May Celebrations

I started the Month off with a happy Anniversary and would like to thank everyone for your happy wishes. It was a great day. My husband showered me with kisses and hugs. We exchanged cards and he surprised me with an iPencil and a new iPad case with a keyboard.

I was overwhelmed. We will celebrate some more this weekend with a nice dinner somewhere.

May is also my birthday month. I am excited to say that on the 16th I will be turning 50! Wow. Bring on the wrinkle creams and potty handles!

I have my birthday outfit ready!

May will be filled with all kinds of fun and events throughout. Not only will I be having a birthday, but I have a sister, a brother, and my dad that will be celebrating birthdays too. This means lots of cake cakes. Mom will make each one of us our own birthday dessert of our choice and we all share. I can already feel the pounds adding on as I type.

This weekend we will be making a trip to Charlotte to celebrate my daughters boyfriends Birthday and also Cinco De Mayo. We plan to try a new Mexican restaurant in town.

Speaking of Charlotte. If you have not heard already, there was a student shooting at UNCC this week that left the whole town in a somber state of mind. It hits close to home. This is where my daughter graduated college. It feels a little different when it's your area that is affected with such tragedy. Please keep all the students, faculty and families in your prayers.

I see a beach trip happening this month too! Can't hardly wait to have some fun in the sun and more birthday celebrations!

College Family Day

Today was family day at the college my daughter attends and my husband and I were invited to the Kappa Delta luncheon with her.

It was in the new sorority house.

It was nice and quiet and the food was rather delicious.
They served us BBQ with all the sides and cupcakes made by the sorority sisters.

After lunch, we decided to take a walk the Starbucks in the Student Union for a pumpkin spice latte.

Here is my husband and daughter picking at each other on the way there.

After getting our caffeine fix, we noticed they were having an International festival over in the distance and so we took another walk.

There was art, food, music, history, and dance representing different parts of the world.

We got a chuckle out of the fact that the college is made up of so many different nationalities, it was hard to tell who were students and parents or who were representatives.

The Bratwurst really looked good here in Germany.

Not sure what they were writing for everyone here in Pakistan but everyone was lined up for it.

This guy had this little girl singing. So, cute.

Here I am at China. "I think I rock the hat. haha".

I was unprepared for this event and due to the crowd, it was hard to take any good pictures or taste any of the foods but it was fun.  Having lunch and hanging around with my daughter was the real treat.

Dorm Room 1011

Well, Its that time of year. The time where we pack up all of my daughters clothes and school things and take her back to school. She is only 30 minutes away so its not all so bad but I still get that upset, lost and lonely feeling on the way back home from moving her in.

This is her last year of college so we didn't want to spend alot of money on new dorm room items and decided to just reuse what we had. She lives in an on campus apartment shared with 3 other girls. They all have there own room and share the common areas. We have to make do with fitting everything in a 9x12 room.

She likes to go with a color theme. The first two years of college, she used alot of pink.
For the 3rd year, she decided to go with more mixed citrus colors such as green, orange, pink and yellow.

Here is a look at last years room....

Its really bright. I liked this one the best and check out the peacock she drew to hang next to her bed.

and here is a look at this years room.

Since joining a Kappa Delta Sorority, she has grown fond of the color green. So we took out the fruity colors of last year and just stuck with mostly green. I love the pink and green monogram artwork she painted for this room.

She simply hung it with a ribbon.

She also got a little creative with her plastic drawer tower by using some scrapbook paper to cover the inside of the clear drawer fronts.

It added a great look to match her room while hiding the contents.

Here is what the common areas of the apartment look like until they decorate it a little.

I just wouldn't feel right moving her in without making some delicious brownies to share with the other three girls that will be living in the apartment.

We wish her the best this year and can't hardly wait til she graduates!
wait.....Did I just say that?

Nearing touchdown

I am a fan of UNC Charlotte 49ers. I guess because my Daughter and other family members have gone there and that's a good enough excuse for right now. But It will not be long until they will be starting there first football team in the year 2013.

The football stadium will start out with 15,300 seats with the ability to expand to 40,000. You can tell the new team is on its way when you see not only the tuition prices going up, but you see more fan memorabilia in the stores around the area.

Just the other day I found these cute "Niner Nuts" sitting on the counter right next to the others cans for UNC (#1), NC State, and Wake Forest. I hope eventually they will be right up there with the big boys and I will have a new team to cheer for.
The next thing I did was sent a can of these to our friends that live in New Jersey. There daughter also goes to UNCC and is my daughters best friend and former roommate. I think they will get a laugh out it.

Now what did I do with my Carolina cup?
