Facebook Break

I decided last week that I would take a break from bragbook dramabook Facebook. It was a place where I would escape to for a lot of my time. Wasted time. It was sucking the life out of me. I have deactivated my account, however, I still have the messenger part of it still open for anyone that cares to send me a hello.

I started facebook some years ago as a way to follow my daughter while she was away in college, but she quickly escaped to another form of social media and her page became boring. Later I felt I needed to get on facebook to keep up with what was going on around me through the rest of my friends, family and church group. (or was I just being nosey?)

It seemed like the only thing I saw on Facebook was politics, dog pictures, ads and invites from all these get rich quick parties such as essential oils, lularoo, and plexus to name a few. I was just so tired of it all. There were only a few people that I enjoyed following on facebook and they all know how to reach me outside of it.

It feels good being away from seeing everyones opinion about crime, politics, and religion. I have better things to do in life. Happier things.

Will I go back? Not sure yet. This is kind of nice. I have a twitter account I use for any news information and will ocasionally post something thats on my mind. It's not as drama focused as facebook.

Now I can spend more time focusing on my blog and enjoying the happier places and people around me. Maybe now I will finally get my house cleaned up.

  1. I have so far avoided FB. I spend more than enough time on line without it.
    Enjoy your freedom.

  2. I go to FB to wish all my FRIENDS a Happy Birthday. Most of my friends I know, or have some association with either business or BLOGS. Some of my FRIENDS I do not know. Methnks with FB 'FRIEND' has a very different meaning. The like thing gets me some, We seem to 'LIKE' somethings that are sad. Does that mean me like it that the other guy is sad or understand. LOL

The Face-cation is a good idea methinks. It is hard for most folk to take it as you were saying, 'to be keeping in contact', Sherry loves to keep up with the g-grands.

(Lots of it is the 'NOSEY THING')

    1. I have thought the same thing until the newest thing. Hold you finger on the like button for a second and you will see options pop up for mad, sad, funny, wow and like.

  3. That is a great idea. It's not a big loss. I have a Facebook account but I don't spend much time on it aside from visiting a few friend pages. I get my news in other ways and I prefer blogging.

  4. I try to be neither pro or aganist when it comes to facebook. IF someone posts something I don't like I just unfollow them, if I don't want to post about something I don't.

What does tick me off is seeing people unfriend me for reasons I never even know. I usually accept requests from people I don't even really like. To me it feels like a spit in the face.

  5. My humble suggestion: use FB to promote your blog. If your blog doesn't go up because of FB then...

  7. How can you live :) Just kidding. I use FB for a combo to promote my blog, wish folks happy birthday and to store my old photographs.
But if I spend much time on there my brain would blow a fuse.

  8. I know what you mean. I'm going to deactivate my account also, just as soon as I make sure I still have copies of my photos there..plus the ones that friends and family have shared with me. The thing I really don't like about FB is how they watch what you're doing. Have you ever noticed that as soon as you take a picture on your phone FB asks you if you would like to share them on FB. I don't want them poking their noses in my phone or computer.
